Roscoe Grain Transfer Facility
Civil Design Inc provided design for the site layout and rail access to a new grain transfer facility near Roscoe, SD. The 120 rail car loop was designed to comply with the BNSF Railroad specifications. The site access required extensive modifications to US Hwy 12. Auxiliary and turn lanes were constructed to accommodate the truck traffic accessing the site. The site access road was designed to allow stacking for 50 semi-trucks and access to the entrance and exit scales. The design allowed for future expansion and an agronomy center. The soils on the site created the need for the design and construction of a sanitary sewer mound system. Site exploration included an archeological study and jurisdictional wetland determination and delineation.
Project deliverables and services provided by CDI included: Preliminary Topographic Survey, Site and Rail Design Alternatives, Sanitary Sewer System Design, Permitting, Plans and Specifications, Construction Administration, Construction Observation and Construction Staking. Construction began in the spring and the site grading was completed by fall of 2010. Rail construction was completed in April of 2011. All construction supervised by CDI totaled $4.58 million.
