Brookings City/County Building
Civil Design Inc provided civil site design, topographic and land surveying, construction staking, and utility coordination for the new home to City Hall and some Brookings County administrative services. The City chose to provide water quality treatment in the form of grassy swales in all the green spaces. CDI modeled and designed the drainage system such that when additional development occurs, the middle parking lot’s swale will accommodate the runoff with no further changes. Due to the flat nature of the site, drain tile was used to provide additional water quality treatment.
In addition, parking lot spaces were maximized while maintaining as much green space as possible. More site design was needed to design the south parking lot to accommodate the new garage and its new storm water detention cell. The main parking lot features a concrete parking lot and the other two parking lots consist of asphalt. This project was completed in 2012.
