SDSU Soccer Practice Field
SDSU’s change to Division 1 athletics necessitated the construction of improved practice facilities for the soccer team. This new practice facility is the size of one and a half full size soccer fields. The design emulates the SDSU competitive soccer fields as much as possible to promote a home-field atmosphere for the team.
CDI handled all planning, design, specifications, construction staking and construction administration. Design of this project started in December 2006 and was completed in the summer of 2007. Irrigation, security fencing, parking and access, and erosion control with special emphasis on site drainage were elements of this design.
Challenges for the design included access to water for irrigation and a successful cohabitation of the Athletic Department and the Agricultural Experiment Station, since many crop test plots are located near the practice field.
