Building Vibration Analysis:
Civil Design Inc. performed a vibration analysis on buildings located near wind turbines. The premanufactured buildings were, literally, shaking apart due to the high winds where they were located. After site visits, coordination with the manufacturer, and analysis by the CDI team, we determined the cause to be inadequate foundation. CDI proposed a solution to the client that alleviated the situation.
Settlement Monitoring:
Civil Design Inc. performed settlement studies on grain storage structures, liquid tanks for ethanol biorefineries, and other miscellaneous structures. We designed a control system and, using very sensitive, accurate equipment, physically monitored movement of these structures for an undetermined period until the settlements stabilized. Following the field work, we submitted a report to the client that summarized all methods, data, and results.
