MidAmerican Energy Company

MidAmerican Energy Company is the largest utility in Iowa and provides electricity and gas to communities throughout Iowa; the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. MidAmerican Energy Company provides service to more than 723,000 electric customers and more than 702,000 natural gas customers in a 10,600 square-mile area.

Civil Design Inc. provided MidAmerican Energy with an as-built site map of the rail layout at their Sergeant Bluff location, in addition to assisting the company with an evaluation of the adequacy of their railroad track at that same plant. A Registered Engineer from CDI inspected their track and made recommendations for repairs to the rail so that MidAmerican Energy could safely transport a 120-ton electrical transformer to their plant. The power-generating plant at Sergeant Bluff receives, on average, three unit trains of coal each week from the UP Railroad.
