Street & Utility Improvements - 25th Avenue & 10th Street
Civil Design Inc was retained by the City of Brookings to provide professional engineering and surveying services for the extension of 25th Avenue – 9th Street to Innovation Drive and 10th Street – 25th Avenue to ±169’ West. The project included hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for storm sewer and detention pond design, asphalt streets, and concrete curb and gutter. A storm water detention pond was designed to detain the increased storm water runoff due to the construction of the street and as Best Management Practices to control the movement of silt and sediment off-site. Brookings Municipal Utilities (BMU) designed the sanitary sewer and water main extensions. CDI worked closely with BMU to coordinate each phase of the project and to ensure that all the utilities were installed correctly to meet all specifications.
CDI provided topographic surveying and design services for this project in the summer and fall of 2011. Construction of this project began in the spring of 2012, with CDI providing construction staking, construction observation and project management services. Construction was completed, with the streets and utilities open and were available for use by early fall of 2012.
