Homeland Energy Solutions Biorefinery
Homeland Energy is one of the largest biorefineries in the world with an annual production of 140 million gallons of ethanol. In 2017, CDI led a railroad expansion project at the Lawler, Iowa plant. Project administration and implementation included design of rail capacity that would increase the plant’s ability to ship unit trains of both ethanol and DDGS, track inspection of existing track, and development of a bid package for repair work on identified defective track. CDI produced plans and performed weekly inspections to ensure that all work was completed in accordance with plans and specifications as well as AREMA and CP Railroad Specifications.
