Service to the Yale grain elevator was cut off when BNSF discontinued service south of Willow Lake, South Dakota. CDI was engaged to renew a connection to the DM&E in Huron, South Dakota and to improve track conditions so train service will be available to the Yale facility. A new connection in Huron was designed where there was none previously, drainage structures were replaced, and 13 miles of Track was surfaced and lined, 6,000 tons of ballast was installed along with over 8,000 ties. Construction was spaced over a period of 5 years for all improvements. CDI was the engineer of record and owner’s representative to manage all design and construction. All construction was completed on time and within budget.
