Revetment for Riverview Cemetery
Recent high water caused Big Sioux River channel movement and bank scour near Riverview Cemetery. Over a period of three years, the riverbank below the cemetery moved eight to ten feet and threatened the integrity of a National Historic Landmark. Members of the Riverview Cemetery Board of Directors sought and obtained a Community Development Block Grant and approval of the Moody County Commission to retain the service of CDI. CDI collected field data to determine channel profile and cross-section and performed hydraulic analysis to predict water velocity. A riprap revetment was designed based on US Army Corps of Engineers recommendations. CDI also obtained all necessary permits and environmental clearances prior to construction.
