Civil Design Inc worked with Minn-Kota Ag Products to construct a three-million-bushel grain handling facility. Located near Barney, North Dakota, the project consists of nearly 10,000 track feet, with its mainline track located on the Red River Valley and Western (RRVW) Mainline. CDI designed the site and the loop railroad track, capable of handling unit trains and designed the site for truck access and drainage. CDI assisted the owner during construction to manage schedules and contractor activities for all phases of the construction. Challenges included poor site soils which had to be dealt with in several ways, including piles for the structures and geofabrics for roads and railroads.
