SDSU Baseball Field
The SDSU Varsity Baseball Field provides an on-campus location for Division 1 athletic competition. CDI directed all planning, budget estimating, and design work; several contracts were issued for construction due to the timeline for this project.
Located at the northeast corner of campus and just east of the new softball complex, the design of the baseball complex complements the softball complex. For example, both fields have similar architecture for their dugouts.
Grading work for this facility was completed in 2002. Irrigation was installed in 2003, along with the agri-lime and seeding. The scoreboard, outfield and spectator fencing, dugouts, batting cages, grandstand, press box, and bullpens are also complete. When the budget allows, sports lighting, and other support facilities will be added.
CDI designed an elevated field grade to reduce or avoid the potential influence of storm water from nearby drainage channels. Well-graded granular material raises the field to maximize field drainage. SDSU began playing home games on the field in 2008.
